Prof. Martin Falk, University of South-East Norway (USN) Bø, Norway

Title of Speech: Domestic tourism boom in rural areas during the pandemic

Martin Falk is Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Southeast Norway (School of Business, Department of Business and IT; Campus Bø). His research focuses on empirical analyses in the fields of sustainability, innovation, tourism and climate change. Since 2016, he has been a visiting professor at Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance (School of Economics and Trade). His activities as a board member/editor of academic journals include: International Journal of Tourism Policy (editor together with editor-in-chief Konstantinos Andriotis), Springer Nature Business & Economics, Heliyon, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Tourism Economics, Asia-Pacific Journal of Business Administration, International Journal of Tourism Research and Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research.

 

Dr Hania Janta, University of Basel, Switzerland & University of Surrey, United Kingdom

Title of Speech: Migrant Workers in the Tourism and Hospitality industry: Global Citizens?

Hania Janta is a Senior Researcher at the Department for Cultural Studies and European Ethnology, University of Basel, where she co-ordinates an ESRC, EU-India Platform-funded “FilmInd – The Indian Film Industries as a driver of new socio-economic connections between India and Europe” project. Previously she worked as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at Bournemouth University, School of Tourism, and as Senior Lecturer at University of Surrey, SHTM. Since 2016, she remains a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Surrey.  Her research interests include tourism labour & human capital issues as well as contemporary forms of mobility. She has published per-reviewed papers in a range of journals, including Annals of Tourism Research and Tourism Management, and co-edited two special issues. She has worked on EU and SNF-funded projects and is an Expert Reviewer for the European Commission and various National Science Foundation bodies.
