THE CITY OF MYTILENE IN LESVOS ISLAND
Mytilene is the capital and main port of the island of Lesvos. It is located on the eastern coast of the island, opposite the shores of Turkey. It is built amphitheatrically between seven beautiful verdant hills which end to the natural port. The town consists of old neighbourhoods and picturesque suburbs whereas the interesting structures and the archaeological monuments witness the rich heritage of the island. Superb mansions, stone built houses and impressive churches complete the picturesque setting of the town while many pleasant cafes and taverns are found along the waterfront with stunning view to the sea and scrumptious local dishes.Mytilene is also popular for the great variety of accommodation and pristine beaches.
THE VENUE
The venue will be held at the the Experimental Lyceum of Mytilene, a historical building, founded in 1839. This is an imposing building with obvious neoclassical features built by the Metropolitan Biskop of Mytilene. Ιt is the unique Experimental Lyceum all over the North-Eastern Aegean and beyond its conventional obligations, which are increased due to its nature, it co-operates closely with the Aegean University and the Regional Educational Training Center in Mytilene achieving national task at the far eastern corner of the country. Its library includes rare books from 9th century to 17th century AD, covering many fields of science.
