The walking tour will reveal all the highlights of Lesvos\u2019 capital, including a stroll along the waterfront and up to the Venetian castle, as well as taking you into neighbourhoods known for their cafes and ouzeries<\/em>. On top of that, you\u2019ll be introduced to the island\u2019s main shopping street, its unique churches and its Ottoman buildings.<\/p>\n

The Municipal Gallery is housed in an old Ottoman konaki, one of the few left in the city of Mytilene, which belonged to the last descendant of the family of Koulaxides, Halim Bey. The building itself was built in 1880 and until 1923 it was used as a residence of the family of Koulaxides. With the exchange of populations, when the family left, the building housed Greek refugees. In each room lived a family, in the form of a commune. The Municipal Gallery remains in the year a real diamond, full of important works of Greeks, as well as internationally recognized painters.<\/p>\n

Folklore dances by Cultural Dance Club “ChorOdoiporoi”<\/h5>\n

\"\"The cultural dance club “ChorOdoiporoi” was founded in February 2014 by dance teachers Lambros Karakitsos and Michaela Faida, with respect for tradition and above all love for the traditional dance, music, costumes, customs and traditions of our homeland. Today it has approximately 130 dancers with advanced, beginner and children’s classes. In addition to the established annual performance at the Municipal Theater of Mytilene, the group participates in the cultural events of the island, but is also active outside of it, both in the rest of Greece and abroad.

Agiasos is a small town on the island of Lesbos. It is 26 kilometers from Mytilini town on the pine and olive covered slopes of Mount Olympos. The amount of greenery here is stunning. The town itself is a completely traditional village of narrow stone streets and picturesque lanes. Many of the houses have projecting upper floors known as sachnisia<\/em> with wooden balconies decorated with flower pots of begonias, carnations, geraniums and other ornamental plants. The industrious women of Agiassos still spin and weave. For many years the town was known for its pottery and this tradition is carried on today. There is also a high level of wood-carving. The craftsmen make beautiful carved wooden icons and furniture.<\/p>\n

MOLYVOS<\/h6>\n

Nestled on the north coast of the island of Lesbos, Molyvos (also known by its ancient Greek name, Mythimna<\/a>) is a gem waiting to be discovered by those who seek a blend of natural beauty, historical richness<\/a>, and vibrant local culture<\/a>. It\u2019s a beautiful village, with a pretty harbour and Byzantine Castle. With sun-kissed beaches<\/a> and historic architecture and famous Castle<\/a>, Molyvos has been given protected status since the 1960s, preserving its traditional buildings over the years. The village is built of stone houses and shops which surround the castle and follow the coast to one of the most scenic harbors in Greece. As one enters the village there is certainly a lot of tourist activity, at least more than anywhere else on the island, (yet nowhere near Cycladic proportions). There is a stone beach for swimming and a small park.<\/p>\n
